Data protection

OKW Gehäusesysteme takes the protection of your personal data seriously and complies with the provisions of the data protection laws. On this page we should like to give you an overview of how we guarantee this protection, and also inform you about the use of cookies.

Personal data

If you contact us by e-mail, chat, or through one of our social media channels, send a product inquiry or download 3D data, your email address and other personal data such as your surname, first name, department and phone number are only collected and stored for individual correspondence with you.

This allows us to provide you with OKW information and to get in touch with you personally. The processing of your personal data is based on the provisions of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We process your personal data if:

  • you have given us your express consent
  • there is a legitimate interest
  • a contract has been concluded with you
  • there are data retention periods under tax and commercial law.

In the context of a legitimate interest, we assume a retention period of up to 2 years, on the basis of an average project duration. Taking account of retention periods under tax and commercial law, the period of data storage may increase to 10 years.

We guarantee you that your information will be used solely by us, will not be sold and will be treated in confidence in accordance with the current statutory provisions – if required your address will be forwarded to the OKW marketing company of the country in question so that they can contact you. We wish to point out that in Germany your personal data are stored in a CRM system and are used to allow us to contact you; on the basis of a cooperation agreement, this system is also used by the companies ORCA Gehäusetechnik GmbH and ROLEC Gehäusesysteme GmbH.

To allow you to receive a personal Newsletter from us, it is helpful if we have not only your email address but also your name and title.

Right of access to information

At all times you have the right to access information about the stored data relating to your person, the origin and recipients of these as well as the purpose of the storage of these data. In accordance with §35 of the Federal Data Protection Act, you are entitled at any time to have inadmissible data blocked and deleted, and to have incorrect content corrected. You can also withdraw your consent to allow your personal data to be processed or used for advertising purposes at any time. Send an email with your revocation to info@okw.com.

OKW Cookie Guidelines

In order to make the use of our website as pleasant as possible, whether for a one-off visit or for repeated visits, we save information about your visit in so-called "cookies". Should you restrict the use of cookies in your browser, you will not be able to use all of the interactive functions.

What is a cookie?

A "cookie" is a small text file that saves information, for example about your language settings. It is generated the first time a user visits a website, and is stored on the computer of the user. OKW uses cookies to make the website more user-friendly and more secure. Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain any viruses.

Use of cookies on the OKW website

The "session cookie" used by OKW is automatically deleted at the end of your visit. It gives you, as the user, an anonymous session ID while you are surfing on the website, so that the web server can react to your actions.

Cookies also ensure, for example,

  • that any actions you take during your visits (text input, search criteria or collection of products in shortlists) are retained when you navigate between individual pages, and
  • that the user name for your registration with the OKW VIP Lounge is kept ready for you personally.

We also use cookies for anonymous statistical analyses. The information used for this is, for example, the browser type and version, the operating system used, the URL referrer (which pages you have visited), the host name of the accessing computer (IP address), the time of the server request, country of origin, preferred language etc. These data cannot be assigned by us to any specific person.

Use of "Google Analytics"

Data processing for the purpose of anonymous statistical analysis is effected using the Google Analytics tool. The OKW website uses the Google Analytics tracking code, extended by the operator ga('set', 'anonymizeIp', true);, to ensure that only anonymised IP addresses are collected (so-called IP masking).

You can prevent the collection of the data which were generated by the Google cookie and which refer to your use of the website (incl. your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of these data by Google. To do this, download the available browser plug-in using the following link (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en).

You can find the security and data protection principles of Google Analytics at https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en.

Use of "LiveZilla"

In live chats, we use the live support system "LiveZilla". This is independent open source support software. If you wish, cookies can be deactivated; the chat function remains active.

We always adapt the contents of our privacy statement to current directives and legislation.
If any changes should require your participation, we shall inform you without delay.
