A review of our open day

This year, 9th July was a very special day for us: after a longer break, we were able to continue our "moments inside" series of events, this time as an open day. Using the concept of "A look behind the scenes", we wanted to offer all interested parties the opportunity to get to know the Turtle family better.

The central idea of this day, "Come in, find out and feel good", became reality – the 200 or so visitors got a deeper insight into everyday life in the company, and were able to get a comprehensive picture of all of OKW's fields of activity and what training opportunities are available at OKW. Of course, many were also interested to see what the completely renovated administration building, which OKW moved into at the end of 2019, now looks like from the inside. In a relaxed atmosphere, visitors were able to spend some interesting hours in perfect weather on our premises "Im Krötenteich 2b". Managing Director Christoph Schneider was also very satisfied at the end of the day: "moments inside" is a very special series of events for us. We are very pleased that we were able to revive this series again with this open day and that it went down so well."

Attach EASYTEC using magnets

Depending on the application, EASYTEC enclosures can also be easily attached to suitable magnetic surfaces with two magnets, e.g. to machines, objects to be measured, switchgear etc. made of steel.

To do this, fit commercially available standard magnets with male threads, to suit the required holding force and ambient conditions, directly on the flange of the enclosure. To protect surfaces from scratches and to prevent the enclosures from slipping, rubber-coated magnets are ideal.

The use of magnets allows easy installation without the need to drill holes! In addition, users have more flexibility in the use of their equipment, e.g. as data loggers, analysis systems, etc.

OKW at embedded world in Nuremberg

OKW Gehäusesysteme participated in the embedded world trade fair in Nuremberg from 21st to 23rd June 2022. With 720 exhibitors from more than 39 countries and 18,000 visitors, the fair was very well attended. The event focused on the latest trends in embedded technologies, from components, modules and complete systems through operating systems and software, hardware and software tools to comprehensive services.

The OKW portfolio includes high-quality plastic and aluminium enclosures as well as operating elements for intelligent communication between networked systems. The enclosures are characterised by generously dimensioned interface surfaces for connecting peripheral components and a high level of flexibility. These factors help to create embedded solutions for digital transformation that offer effective interaction in data acquisition, processing and transmission. Each enclosure range is uniquely designed for different disciplines, and the tuning knobs ensure precise control and regulation.

Trade fair year 2022 - more on the All About Automation trade fairs

After OKW was able to start the trade fair season in Friedrichshafen in April, the team was now present at the All About Automation fair in Düsseldorf on 11 and 12 May with plastic and aluminium enclosures, tuning knobs and services. The presentations accompanying the trade fair focused on topics such as IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), digitisation in medium-sized companies, robotics and secure automation - sectors in which OKW has extensive know-how in the field of enclosure systems and operating elements. "We are very satisfied with the response of the visitors. On the one hand, we were able to establish new contacts and, on the other hand, have discussions with familiar faces," reports Michael Reimold, Deputy Head of Marketing and Sales at OKW.

LED illumination for CONTROL-KNOBS 46

From now on, size 46 CONTROL-KNOBS can also be illuminated. For this purpose, a new circuit board was developed, fitted with 12 LEDs (RBG backlight, without controller).
Illumination options:
- translucent optic ring on the top surface
- translucent optic ring on the top surface with pointer line on the side

In addition to the optionally illuminated CONTROL-KNOBS 46, please order the LED illumination unit with 12 LEDs, available as an accessory, as well as the base 46 for installing it.

CONTROL-KNOBS are designed as control elements with a rotating function and, with a suitable rotary pulse generator, also with a touch function for menu-driven user interfaces. This optional illumination allows you to create an impressive accent for modern device design.

The CONTROL-KNOBS range of tuning knobs received the prestigious iF product design award in 2022.

For OKW, it is particularly important to express the high quality of the products through their design. New product developments therefore demonstrate a finely-tuned combination of functionality, aesthetics and ergonomics.

Customers praise the innovative design and touch sensation, according to the first feedback on the CONTROL-KNOBS since they were launched on the market in 2021. Control units should not only be easy to handle, users should also want to touch the operating elements. This is the added value that CONTROL-KNOBS offer.

Trade fair spring - ALL ABOUT AUTOMATION in Friedrichshafen

"A small, fine, local trade fair for customers and interested parties from the international Lake Constance region", is how Michael Reimold, Sales and Marketing Manager at OKW Gehäusesysteme, sums up the trade fair setting around All About Automation in Friedrichshafen.

Numerous customers and interested parties from southern Germany and the neighbouring regions in Austria and Switzerland took advantage of the opportunity to visit the trade fair and talk to the OKW sales team in person on 5 and 6 April 2022. The focus was on current enclosure and tuning knob trends for a variety of solutions in industrial automation as well as in customisation services.

RAILTEC SUPPORT now available in PA6 FR material and in grey

The versatile subracks are available in a modular design for individual assembly in sizes 72 and 107. Combining these parts with intermediate parts allows optimum adaptation to the relevant width requirements.
The PCBs can be easily and efficiently inserted into the profile. End pieces reliably close the sides of the enclosures.

Subracks with bases are ideal for mounting on EN 60715 TH35, TH15 and G32 DIN rails, or alternatively without bases for wall mounting (wall suspension element available as an accessory).
The PA6 FR material is new, as is the colour grey, similar to light grey RAL 7035. The geometry of the parts is unchanged.

Bracket according to VESA standard for the SMART-TERMINAL on request

The VESA standard is used in many suspension arm and wall suspension systems to attach devices to them easily and securely.

On request and in conjunction with the SMART-TERMINAL enclosure, OKW can now offer a 2-part wall suspension element made of anodised sheet aluminium in accordance with the VESA 100x100 standard.

Installing the VESA adapter is quite simple: slide it sideways into the existing grooves on the rear side of the enclosure, then screw the plastic covers with design seals or the aluminium end plates to the aluminium profile. The unit can then be installed on the wall (wall plate from the 2-part set).
To lead the cables through, both the VESA adapter and the wall plate have corresponding cutouts, thus allowing the unit to be connected at the rear.

If required, SMART-TERMINAL enclosures can also be mounted directly on commercially available swivel arms and wall suspension systems with 100x100 mounting holes using the VESA adapter.

Thanks to the bracket, the attractive aluminium profile enclosures are versatile in use and easy for the user to operate and read – specifically adapted to the application in question.
