A recent protection class test in accordance with DIN EN 60529 has confirmed the high protection class IP 65 of the sturdy EVOTEC plastic enclosures. The tests were conducted by an independent external testing institute.
This means that the enclosures effectively protect sensitive electronics even under harsh operating conditions.
In the case of special modifications or the installation of accessories, we recommend that the finished products should be certified.
On Wednesday, 29.03.17, OKW Gehäusesysteme once again took part in the vocational information exchange at Burghardt Gymnasium in Buchen. Regional firms presented their companies as well as their education and training opportunities at information stands.
Should I first begin to train in a vocation, or is it better to go straight to university? How do I imagine my professional future? These are questions which pupils in senior classes have to ask themselves. At the vocational information exchange, pupils from the 11th classes were able to obtain information about their options after graduating from high school. Some of the discussions at the information stands were conducted by trainees and students themselves. Pupils from the 10th classes were also invited to the have a look at what the region has to offer. After the tour of the exchange, discussions took place about certain topics.
The two companies Hoffmann + Krippner GmbH and OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH from Buchen participated in the "embedded world" trade fair in Nuremberg this week (14-16.03.2017). Whether the safety of electronic systems, distributed intelligence, the Internet of things or e-mobility and energy efficiency – this trade fair will let you experience the whole world of embedded systems. Over 1,000 exhibitors presented the more than 30,000 visitors with a broad spectrum – from components, modules and complete systems through operating systems, hardware and software to services.
On the common 45 sq. m. large exhibition stand, both manufacturers were able to offer the interested audience a comprehensive service portfolio for the creation of optimum, efficient product solutions: Plastic/aluminium enclosures, knobs, keypads, touch screens, optical bonding and printed electronics, potentiometers and industrial PCs. "We are extremely satisfied with the final result. At the "embedded world", the stand personnel was able to conduct a variety of interesting conversations with customers and interested parties. This is an ideal basis for obtaining projects in the follow-up to the fair," says Frank Wahlandt, Sales Manager at OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH.
By an embedded electronic system we mean a computer which usually has to meet special requirements in terms of size, cost and energy consumption. Embedded systems are integrated in many everyday items (cars, domestic appliances, smart phones, MP3 players etc.) and perform important tasks there without being seen. We cannot imagine our lives today without them. Embedded systems are adapted to one very specific task. This distinguishes them from "normal" desktop PCs, which have to perform a wide range of tasks - from e-mail through music and films to work assignments and calculations and much more.
The new EVOTEC enclosures expand the range of robust table top enclosures by OKW. Soft contours guarantee an elegant appearance and ensure high-quality packaging for your electronics. The enclosures are made of UV-resistant ASA+PC-FR plastic material, and can be fitted with a seal (accessory) for protection class IP 65. Your equipment is thus fully prepared for rough conditions and outdoor use.
Different top parts offer you many comfortable options for packaging your electronics to meet the needs of your specific application! Depending on the model: classic form with flat top part and large interior, or ergonomically practical with a front panel inclined by 12° – ideal for desktop applications with perfect user comfort. The desktop version is also available with or without a recessed control panel to protect the membrane keypad / decor foil.

New versions are now available for applications requiring a larger installation compartment, to supplement the RAILTEC B range of DIN rail enclosures. The top parts of the enclosures have different connection levels, high and low, for mounting individual components, e.g. terminal blocks, plug headers, front connectors, USB, LAN and D-Sub connectors. The enclosures meet the requirements of DIN 43880, size 1, and guarantee fast and simple locking capability onto standard rails complying with DIN EN 60715 TH35.
With small-format enclosure applications, external wall mountings often appear dominant, and are frequently perceived as obtrusive in visually discerning environments. Concealed wall mounting is a much sought-after solution.
With the newly designed wall suspension element set by OKW, special small enclosures with a flat base can be elegantly mounted on the wall, much to the pleasure of the user. For example applications like controllers in building installations can be installed in the
SYNERGY R120 (ø 120 mm x 40 mm – ER123059) and
SYNERGY R140 (ø 140 mm x 40 mm – ER143059) enclosures.
There are many ways to look after, improve and restore one's health. Awareness of the influences that things like nutrition, stress management, movement and recovery periods have on the body is the key to optimum well-being. OKW Gehäusesysteme is also aware of this, and is now starting a wide-ranging programme to promote health within the company. To this end, the company has obtained the services of Stephanie Glaser (graduate nutrition consultant) and Mr Sven Glaser (personal trainer) to provide professional help. The health programme offers one lecture per month as well as exercise units in 3 different performance categories. The first meeting is to provide information, and takes place on Tuesday, 21.02.2017. The subject here is: "The basis for healthy nutrition and the key to active metabolism."
Our new STYLE-CASE has a high gloss surface finish, thus creating another design highlight for handheld control units. These elegant eye-catching enclosures fit snugly in the hand and are easy and reliable to operate. The highly polished surface has a very pleasant feel which imparts a high quality and modern user experience.
Our company will be closed from 23.12.2016 - 08.01.2017. On Monday, 9th January, we'll be at your disposal again. We wish you a Merry Christmas and for the new year fortune, health and success.
The CI image of our company – the green turtle – is celebrating its birthday. "In its honour, we have dedicated a very special birthday issue to our "turtle".
"It is now thirty years since the young company came up with a reptile as its symbol. One thing is sure: this animal image is more than successful. Ever since the "turtle" hatched from its egg, at least in our thoughts, it has served as a popular institution and a driving force, as a convincing image that transmits the statement "To each his own enclosure". All of the staff, managing directors, partners and customers have taken the OKW turtle to their hearts. In this special anniversary issue of INSIDE we want to celebrate the turtle", comments managing director Martin Knörzer. Our archive team, Anne Schneider and Wladimir Mitronin, set out on an exciting search for clues.
“No-one is so rich that they have everything. No-one is so poor that they can’t give anything.”- Ugandan proverb. The Buchen-based company, OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH, also likes to support those urgently in need of help. “This year, instead of purchasing expensive Christmas gifts for our global clients and partners, we decided to donate € 5,000 to a charity organization, the Buukumi children’s charity project in Uganda,” explained Martin Knörzer, Managing Director of OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH.
The aid project was originally started up by the pastoral care unit of Adelsheim-Osterburken-Seckach and has now been in existence for over 25 years. The institution currently fully supports and looks after 62 orphans between the ages of 4 and 18. The children also help support themselves by performing farming and gardening work. Even so, the charity is always dependent on financial aid, for example for purchasing food, clothing, furniture, mattresses, for medical care and for the construction/maintenance of buildings and social facilities. In addition to this, a further 112 children are taken care of and prepared for school in the affiliated St. Anthony kindergarten.
The cheque was officially handed over on Friday, 09.12.2016 in the OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH company building. Karl-Heinz Dörsam, the co-ordinator of the orphan project, gladly accepted the donation and ensured that, thanks to it, they would now be able to start up or continue with a variety of projects. “One child in our orphanage costs approximately €16.00 each month. This money pays for their accommodation, food, clothing and lessons in a state school,” Karl-Heinz Dörsam explained. For OKW and its Sales Manager, Frank Wahlandt, the following was extremely important: “We found out from Mr Dörsam that the Bukuumi children’s charity project differs from many other aid organisations in one important aspect – 100% of each donation is used for the intended purpose – namely in Bukuumi. This is why we are only too pleased to give them our donation and do so in good confidence, to enable the children to lead a life in which they have future prospects,” the Managing Director, Martin Knörzer, added.

OKW Gehäusesysteme took part in the COMPAMED specialist trade fair in Dusseldorf from 14.-17.11.2016 with a collective stand. A comprehensive service portfolio was presented in collaboration with the companies ANSMANN AG, Hoffmann + Krippner and TES Frontdesign.
The COMPAMED exhibition is the international specialist trade fair for components, semi-finished products and raw material for medical product manufacture. At the collective stand, visitors were presented with a varied range of services for optimum and efficient product solutions: OKW Gehäusesysteme impressed with a large range of standard enclosures and tuning knobs. Among the products presented was the new STYLE-CASE. This ergonomic hand-held enclosure with highly polished surfaces combines the highest level of ergonomics with modern design. Hofmann + Krippner and TES Frontdesign provided visitors with information about operating solutions, such as keyboards and touchscreens, optical bonding, potentiometers and industrial PCs. All aspects of individual and mobile power supply systems such as rechargeable batteries, rechargeable battery packs, primary batteries, rechargers and mains adapters were also presented by the energy specialist, ANSMANN AG. In particular, the new patent-pending rechargeable battery system, “Battery Intelligence”, with cordless data transmission to and from the battery, attracted considerable interest. This technology opens up a wide range of new applications for both the manufacturer and the user, in particular with regard to cloud solutions and IoT. Overall, our trade fair participation was a success and led to the establishment of many new contacts.
774 domestic and international exhibitors and suppliers presented their products and services in the two halls. A total of 19,000 professional visitors were informed about innovations and relevant product development trends. The particular focus this time was on compact and mobile electronics and the increasing digitalization of health care. The world’s largest medical exhibition, the MEDICA, was held alongside the COMPAMED.
Last week, the largest trade fair for electronics – the electronica – took place in Munich from 08 to 11 November, under the motto "The networked world – a secure place". 2,913 companies from over 50 countries showed their innovative product solutions in line with this motto. The Buchen-based Odenwälder Kunststoffwerke Gehäusesysteme GmbH (in short: OKW Gehäusesysteme) was also present at the fair with its own 84-square-metre exhibition stand.
The electronica, the leading trade fair for electronics, has been taking place every 2 years since 1964, and is growing continuously. This year, more than 73,000 visitors from 88 countries made use of this get-together to exchange views and information with their colleagues from around the world. The focus here was on the "Internet of Things". This means that "normal" computers are increasingly disappearing as individual units and are being replaced by intelligent objects which are supposed to support people imperceptibly in their everyday situations. However, how is the networking of individual systems progressing, and what effects does this have on our everyday lives? There were many attempts at the electronica to find answers to these questions.
OKW Gehäusesysteme has been aware of this trend for some time now, and with the BODY-CASE has developed an enclosure that can easily be carried as a mini-format computer (so-called wearable) on the body (around your neck or on your wrist, on your arm or even worn loose in an article of clothing). On the elegantly designed stand in Hall B1, however, the visitor to the trade fair was able to discover many more interesting things: robust hand-held and wall-mounted enclosures, enclosures for wired applications, tuning knobs, innovative table top enclosures and much more. The trade fair was also the platform for presenting a completely new enclosure range to the general public – the STYLE-CASE. This range of hand-held enclosures is characterised by an ergonomic design and a modern, high-gloss finish in black or white. "With all of our new enclosures and our presence at the electronica, we have once more underlined our leading position on the market. This was also confirmed by the many interesting conversations we had with the international visitors to our stand. This means that we can be very optimistic about the future," says Frank Wahlandt, Sales Manager at OKW Gehäusesysteme.
This will turn your device into a real eye-catcher! The shimmering metallic effect of the matt chrome covers creates an individual style, has a high-quality appearance and forms a striking contrast to the basic plastic body of the tuning knob. In the choice of a front panel with a metallic look, the colour and styling form a perfect unified whole.
Covers with a chrome-plated finish are available for size 23-40 mm COM-KNOBS. The size 40 is also available with a finger recess for rational handling during adjustment.
New sealing kits made of silicone with pre-moulded contours are now available for the NET-BOX. The moulded seal makes it easier to insert in the groove of the enclosure. Since installation is so easy, you save installation time compared to conventional round cord seals.
All sizes of the NET-BOX with the silicone seal fitted have been successfully tested for compliance with protection class IP 65.
We will be at your service even during the summer holidays, but in the first two weeks in August we shall be working with a reduced workforce. Please plan your requirements in good time. We wish all our customers and business partners pleasant and relaxing holidays.
For universal use, for attaching a shoulder strap and carrying strap or the like. (separate article). Allows the enclosure to be carried comfortably.
Who are the top managers in the electronics industry? It was exciting right up until the last minute: who did the readers of the trade journal "Markt&Technik" choose as "Managers of the Year 2016"? In order to secure the international supply chain between the manufacturers and the recipients of goods, the status of AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) has been created in the European Union. Companies which are subject to customs obligations and which have their registered offices in the European Union can apply for the status of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) and obtain this in an elaborate certification procedure. Among other things, compliance with provisions, safety standards and financial solvency are subjected to a comprehensive examination.
An Authorised Economic Operator is entitled to take advantage of customs simplifications (e.g. faster declarations and local clearance procedures, authorised consignees and authorised consignors etc.) and of the fact that less data has to be transmitted in the course of electronic customs processing. For you as an OKW customer, this means: no delays in shipment, compliance with safety standards as well as an optimum logistics process.
We are pleased to have officially received the AEO certificate "Customs Simplifications/Security and Safety" (Z 0520 AEO/B - B1302 - DE AEOF 121264) as an "Authorised Economic Operator" from Karlsruhe Main Customs Office on 20.11.2015.

This year, OKW Gehäusesysteme again participated successfully in two international trade fairs with its innovative range of enclosures and tuning knobs, as well as many new products.
The first appearance was at the electronica in Munich from 11.11.-14.11.2014. At the world's leading exhibition for electronic components, systems, services and applications, numerous companies present their products, innovations and solutions that are used for the development, quality control, care and maintenance of electronic components, equipment and machinery. All in all, more than 73,000 visitors from over 80 countries came to the electronica exhibition, with foreign visitors accounting for 50%.
The second exhibition that OKW took part in was the COMPAMED in Düsseldorf from 12.-14.11.2014. With more than 700 exhibitors from almost 40 countries, it is the leading international trade fair for components, preliminary products and raw materials for the medical supplier industry and product development. The COMPAMED took place at the same time as the world's largest medical technology trade fair MEDICA, thus showing the approximately 130,000 visitors the entire process chain for medical products. Foreign visitors accounted for approx. 65%.
Besides the innovative range of standard enclosures and tuning knobs, OKW also showed the numerous visitors the individual processing options that are available at customers' request. Among other things, the new SYNERGY range of enclosures was presented, a range in which for the first time OKW combines aluminium with plastic in one single enclosure concept. OKW's team of experts was available for the entire duration of the exhibition to provide visitors with help and advice. The exhibition stands at the electronica in Munich and the COMPAMED in Düsseldorf were well attended, and thus many new contacts were made. The high proportion of international visitors led to an enormous increase in contacts with foreign visitors at both exhibitions compared to last year.
On Friday, 24 October, OKW Gehäusesysteme opened its doors for a training day in the field of production. On this day, pupils and school leavers as well as all other interested parties were given the chance to get to know the wide variety of training opportunities as well as the production and training facilities at OKW.
A total of 6 occupations requiring vocational training as well as 3 different types of dual study courses were presented by the trainees and students themselves. They provided an insight into the careers and studies as well as the tasks and fields of responsibility occurring at OKW. Interested parties were given the chance to take a general tour round the training facilities, and before this, guided tours were also offered specially for school classes on this day, provided the tours were reserved in advance.
Thanks to comprehensive information and discussions on site, all visitors were given an insight into the training opportunities as well as the production centre of OKW. In addition, the recently opened historical archive of the OKW group was opened on this training day with the exhibition "Who turned the knob?", describing the company's history, which began in Buchen 66 years ago.
What was very encouraging was the large number of visitors, mostly pupils from the surrounding schools, as well as the keen interest. Some new contacts were also made. It was thus a successful day for all those involved.

The electronex is the trade fair for electronics development and assembling on the Australian continent, and takes place every year, alternately in Sydney and Melbourne. From 10 to 11 August 2014, Shane and Chantelle Dwight from the OKW distribution subsidiary in Australia, which was established in July, exhibited enclosures and tuning knobs for our Australian customers. Among other things, the focus this time was on the brand new SYNERGY range and the robust DATEC-COMPACT range of hand-held enclosures. The fact that OKW is now operating directly in the ANZ markets with its participation in this trade fair was viewed very favourably by the visitors.
Since July, Rolec OKW Australia New Zealand Pty. Ltd. has been operating a joint venture, with OKW participation, to market high-quality enclosure solutions on the ANZ markets. The new company is domiciled in Penrith, Australia.
OKW has already been actively represented in Australia by local distributors since the 80s. After the cooperation with Soanar, however, the opportunity to establish an autonomous marketing organisation together with ROLEC, manufacturer of metal enclosures, and the Dwight family was too good to miss.
"Australia and New Zealand are ideal markets for OKW enclosures and tuning knobs. A large number of small and medium-sized companies are implementing specific, high-quality and innovative ideas for devices. It is fun to be a part of this dynamic development with our products in such an atmosphere", says Christoph Schneider, Managing Director of OKW and Director of the joint venture – now the eighth foreign company in the OKW group.
Petra Haas from Mudau can look back on 40 years of service with the company OKW Gehäusesysteme. In the course of a special ceremony, her colleagues and the management marked this unusual anniversary.
Managing Director Christoph Schneider reminded those present of the career of Petra Haas, who started her training in industrial business management with Odenwälder Kunststoffwerken on 1 September 1974. She was subsequently employed on a permanent basis as a clerk responsible for sales order processing, where she experienced the beginnings of the first standard enclosures for the electronics industry.
In 1985, Ms Haas switched from sales order processing to the newly established Odenwälder Kunststoffwerke Gehäusesysteme GmbH, where she assumed responsibility for materials planning and procurement, a post where she has worked until the present day. She reliably ensures that plastic enclosures, tuning knobs and accessories are in stock in order to be able to supply customers worldwide, either directly or through sales partners.

This international trade fair and conference for the production and design of medical equipment took place in in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 26 und 27 August 2014.
As a leading supplier of design enclosures, OKW Gehäusesysteme was represented by its Sao Paulo-based distribution subsidiary Schurter + OKW do Brasil (SOB).
Besides high-quality design enclosures and tuning knobs by OKW, the experts attending the fair were also shown the entire product portfolio with E-Mech components of SOB.
For the first time ever, OKW has combined aluminium with plastic to produce a harmonious blend of materials in its advanced new range of enclosures. Synergy is available in 36 different models from launch. These beautiful new housings feature an extruded aluminium case profile, which has a very high quality surface finish. The plastic top and base parts are assembled by internal fixing pillars. The top is recessed for a keypad and the base includes a battery compartment lid. Separate battery cradles for 2, 3, or 5 AA cells are available. The base is inset for fitting cables up to ø3mm through the underside. Four case shapes are offered; round, square, rectangular and oval. The plastic parts are flame retardant (UL 94 V-0) and UV stable. A wall mounting kit is also offered. Synergy enclosures can be supplied fully customised. Different heights can also be accommodated.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of OKW Gehäusesysteme, the newly established historic archive of the OKW group has opened the exhibition "Who turned the knob?" The exhibition deals with the company's history, which began in Buchen 66 years ago.
The main focus in theme room number one is the establishment of Odenwälder Kunststoffwerk, from its modest beginnings in the post-war years. A film with interviews by contemporary witnesses describes the background and development of the plastic vision of the founder, Dr. Herbert Schneider, whose radio knobs successfully rolled off the production line for decades.
In the second room, the visitor finds out more about the era after 1970, the increasingly colourful range of products, the developments in computers and the first crises after the initial boom. The exhibition culminates in a theme room about OKW Gehäusesysteme, providing information about the "off-the-peg products", the standard enclosures – which have won design awards worldwide.
This small exhibition is open to all interested parties. It is also designed for English-speaking visitors, booklets are available in English. Please make an appointment: +49 (0) 171-3786864. Im Krötenteich 2 b, 74722 Buchen.

The new DATEC-COMPACT range of handheld enclosures has been given a robust design and offers an ergonomic shape to give you a secure hold of the enclosure. This allows fatigue-free operation in a wide variety of situations. Through the use of a UV-resistant, flame-resistant material ASA+PC-FR (UL 94 V-0), an already foamed-in seal and the resulting protection class IP 65, the DATEC-COMPACT is ideal for indoor as well as for outdoor applications.
From 30.03.2014 until 04.04.2014, OKW Gehäusesysteme took part in the world's largest trade fair for light, electrical engineering as well as house and building automation. At the LIGHT & BUILDING trade fair, which takes place every two years, around 2,300 companies displayed their product portfolios at the Frankfurt exhibition site. Of the more than 210,000 visitors, almost one out of two came from abroad. Besides designers, architects, interior designers, planners and engineers, the most important groups of visitors were also tradesmen and representatives from trade and industry.
Nowadays, modern house and building automation systems have to be planned and designed in such a way that they meet the individual requirements of users - intelligent, efficient, comfortable and unobtrusive in appearance, with a long service life. Standard enclosures make a significant contribution here. And so the brisk visitor demand at the trade fair was not surprising, for OKW enclosures can be used in many areas of building management, for example for mobile control units, time recording systems, access and security controls/personal identification systems, biometry, intercom and alarm systems, monitoring, operating and control units as well as for air conditioning and heating technology.
Do you want to operate and visualise controllers in the switch cabinet on site? No problem with the new RAILTEC B enclosures with flat top parts. They offer the user comfortable display and operating panels. Large-area displays and operating elements can be mounted directly on the attachment domes in the top part. If required, the enclosures are also available with matching cutouts for your display and operating elements.
The open connection sides allow the flexible use of terminal blocks and PCB plug headers. Various types of terminal guard protect the connections and electronics.
The DIN rail enclosures are available in widths for 2, 4, 6 and 9 modules, to fit standard DIN rails complying with DIN EN 60715 TH35, or for direct wall mounting. For tough conditions requiring high temperature stability, the materials comply with the fire safety standard UL 94 V-0.
The innovative BLOB series of enclosures has been awarded the iF product design award 2014 in the "Industry" category by an international jury of experts. For 60 years now the iF product design award has been a globally recognised seal of quality for excellent product design.
The three versions of the BLOB series of enclosures were developed according to the principles of "universal design". These support applications that are flexible enough to meet the needs of a large number of people with different hand sizes and grasping volumes.
"We are especially pleased to note that our idea, and the creation of a series of enclosures for products which have to meet high ergonomic demands and which are generally easier for users to understand and use, are gaining recognition, for the users must want to take hold of the equipment – because they need it, because it feels good and because it also looks great," says Egon Weinlein, Head of R&D (picture right). The design is by Martin Nussberger, polyform Industriedesign, Munich.
The new NET-BOX wall mounted enclosure series has a fresh and exciting curved appearance. The flat design of the enclosure gives you plenty of scope for installing your electronics, smaller displays and large-volume connectors.
The two DIN rail enclosures RAILTEC B and RAILTEC C by OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH have recently become even more versatile thanks to a special BUS system. These are separate and individual combinations of components that guarantee fast and secure energy and data transmission via standardised top-hat rails.
OKW achieves an outstanding 2nd place in the readers' choice in the magazine "Elektronik" in the category Electromechanical Technology for enclosures made of bio-plastic.
Nowadays, more and more elderly wish to live independently as long as possible, without giving up their freedom of mobility and feeling of safety. These developments form the main reason for the Personal Protection and Caring System (2PCS) project, which aims to develop a solution that addresses this wish. The aim of the project is to improve the mobility, the information accessibility and the subjective as well as objective safety of elderly people. The intended innovative solution creates a higher independency level, security level and a better access to social interaction. As a result primary end-users will become more independent and integrated in the self-serve society.
The solution exist of a high advance “watch-like” device, that can be worn on the wrist by the, so called, primary user (e.g. elderly). In case of an emergency, the watch can be used to trigger an alarm to a (nurse/external) call center and a telephone connection between user and call center is set up. Because the solution provides indoor and outdoor localization, the primary end user can easily be tracked and traced.
The project started in July 2011 and the consortium consists of 9 partners from 5 different European countries, each with his/her own specialty to guarantee a value chain orientation. OKW provides excellent experiences in enclosure engineering and health care e.g. enclosure design, material specifications, optimal tool design, high surface quality, etc. This year the solution will be widely tested in stationary and ambulant care institutions in 5 countries as well as for its private use at home. It is planned to launch a scalable end-product on the European market in 2014.

On 22 and 23 January, OKW participated in the 6th German AAL Congress in Berlin. The event has become established as the key congress in the innovative field of AAL (Ambient Assisted Living) for scientists, developers, manufacturers, users as well as representatives from politics, industry and associations. AAL systems support for example elderly people as well as those with handicaps, and offer them additional quality of life.
The main focus this year was on "Quality of life in times of demographic and technological change", and in its exhibition dealt with all aspects of new assistance systems and services.
For over a year now, OKW Gehäusesysteme, together with 8 project partners, has been dealing with the requirements of a Personal Protection and Caring System (2PCS) and its implementation. This new development offers active and independent people a unique combination of services and functions. OKW's experience in the field of Health Care is proving to be advantageous. Whether it is a question of user-oriented enclosure design, material specifications, optimum tool configuration, high quality of finish etc., OKW offers all possible advantages for the right enclosure solutions. For further information, we invite you to visit the project site in the Internet at www.2PCS.eu zu besuchen.
The project is being supported within the framework of, among other things, the Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme (www.aal-europe.eu) in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (www.bmbf.de).
OKW Gehäusesysteme supplies the necessary enclosure technology and services.
OKW has appeared at 2 leading international exhibitions with many creative new products and well thought-out concepts.
The first exhibition that OKW took an active part in was the "electronica" from 13.11 - 16.11.2012 in Munich. It is the world's leading exhibition for components, systems and applications in the electronics sector. Here, OKW had a completely new stand design, consisting of 3 oversized enclosures - 2 x for product presentations on the outer flanks and one central cube as a connecting element and meeting point for further communication, with a generously dimensioned lounge area and a centrally located counter. "Not only does the new stand set standards in our market, its impact on visitors is what we imagined: it provides incentives for the topic of "Housing" and on this basis helps us to work out individual solutions together with our customers," says Christoph Schneider, Managing Director of OKW Gehäusesysteme. The number of visitor contacts rose by 25% compared to the last electronica. On the day before the exhibition, OKW organised an international meeting of representatives at Herrenchiemsee Palace with sales partners from over 40 countries.
The second exhibition took place in Düsseldorf. The leading international exhibition specially for the suppliers of the medical technology industry, COMPAMED, took place in connection with the world's largest exhibition for medical technology, MEDICA. With its innovative range of enclosures and tuning knobs, including many different options for individualisation at customers' requests, OKW encountered keen interest on the part of the visitors.
The current trends in enclosure and tuning knob technology are characterised by user-friendly design, a high degree of functionality, individuality and sustainability. Among the products celebrating their debuts are:
New enclosure size with the dimensions 348 x 303 x 117 mm, for greater installation volume.
Specially designed for CARRYTEC S for keeping instruments, sensors etc., available as accessories. The interfaces can be preconnected and are ready for immediate use.
For greater installation volume there is now a high intermediate ring with/without recess for USB Type A connectors in accordance with DIN IEC 61076-3-107. In an instant, this makes a size M MINITEC E (68 x 42 x 24 mm) into a mobile USB tool for many different application areas. If required, we can also supply the intermediate ring with individual openings, e.g. for LEDs. Both versions have a practical eyelet for use on a lanyard or wrist strap (accessories).
For all those who wish to make a contribution to environmental protection.
An enclosure made of BIOGRADE®, the sympathetic material produced on the basis of renewable raw materials (cotton, wood), has a number of ecological advantages, e.g. long-term use. The high quality of use, similar properties to ABS as well as easy treatment and processing make BIOGRADE the ideal material for many applications. SOFT-CASE is the first standard enclosure available from stock that is made from such a material.
As an enclosure for terminal installations as well as for the electronics sector the IN-BOX programme offers versatile options: 9 base enclosures with different heights, two standard materials ABS or PC, top parts in case colour or transparent, efficient quick-action lock made of stainess steel, functional accessories etc.
