OKW for the first time at the Light+Building in Frankfurt 25.04.2012 Enclosures and tuning knobs for modern building services systems: OKW Gehäusesysteme presented the latest generation at the Light + Building 2012 in Frankfurt. For example, an innovative installation assembly kit with a fine design cover for the INTERFACE-TERMINAL series of enclosures. With this, the enclosures can also be harmoniously integrated in the wall in buildings of special architectural merit or in historically valuable structures. Our speciality: individual colours and a wide choice of finishes. OKW Gehäusesysteme presented its products for the first time at the world's largest trade fair for light and building services systems in Frankfurt. The possible applications for the wide range of products are many-sided and range from multifunctional control terminals for controlling temperature, alarm systems, access control / personal identification systems, shading systems etc. to custom-made solutions for transmitter or receiver units. "All OKW products are characterised by aesthetic design, high practicality, excellent surface finish and durability. | OKW at the COMPAMED exhibition
24.11.2011 OKW Gehäusesysteme took part in the COMPAMED exhibition for the 7th time now. On the 4 days of the fair from 16-19.11.2011, a total of approx. 134,500 specialists from over 100 countries came to Düsseldorf in order to visit the largest medical trade fair in the world, MEDICA, as well as COMPAMED (trade fair for suppliers of the medical technology sector). On the 28 square-metre, clearly arranged OKW exhibition stand, interested visitors were given an informative insight into the wide range of OKW products, with all the virtues of high-quality and visually appealing enclosures and tuning knobs. Two new ranges of plastic enclosures celebrated their premieres and set new standards in terms of innovation: CARRYTEC has a functional handle. This allows users to carry the units easily and safely from place to place. However, applications on support arms or tripod systems are also conceivable, with the downwards-pointing handle allowing easy positioning / alignment of the visible and operating panels. BLOB was created to follow the principles of "universal design". It is ideal for a large number of people with different hand sizes and grasping volumes. Depending on requirements, there is a choice of three BLOB types, "UNIT", "CONTROL" and "PANEL", for easy, intuitive operation. High intermediate rings for MINITEC E, size M, are also new. They offer greater installation volume, for example for Type A USB plugs or LEDs. "Once more, the COMPAMED has proved to be an important element in the exhibition calendar", stated Andre Beuchert, Area Sales Manager, "we are very satisfied with the results of the exhibition. We had many interesting discussions and were able to initiate several promising projects." |

| OKW supports the nation-wide
„Sustainability“ education campaign
10.03.2011 OKW Gehäusesysteme is promoting the nation-wide Multivision education campaign „Fair Future - the Ecological Footprint“. The multimedia show with subsequent discussion forum is touring through the whole of Germany and aims to sensitise pupils to the topic of ecological and economic sustainability. „What would happen if all 6.8 billion people on earth were to live the way we do in Germany?“ Over 510 young people from schools in the municipal district of Buchen can also ask themselves this question on the project day (22 March 2011). OKW is also looking into the problem of sustainable development, a fact that is also documented by OKW‘s certification according to the environmental standard ISO 14001/2005. Through the increase in the awareness of the effect on the environment, several projects have been initiated here. For its printed documentation, for example, OKW uses FSC paper. This indicates that these are products that come from sustainable forest management and thus at the same time protect forest areas in the long term. OKW also pursues the principle of the „paperless office“. Furthermore, OKW customers can now also order their enclosures in the biomaterial „Biograde“ on request. Bioplastics are produced from renewable raw materials. Unlike fossil raw materials, these are largely CO2-neutral, technically compostable and biodegradable. In the development of its enclosures, the OKW designers follow the „Ecodesign Directive“ 2005/32/EC, which describes the entire product life cycle and its environmental effects, from its creation to its recycling. The high quality standards, timeless design and long service life of the products also contribute to their sustainability. All production facilities and machines are state-of-the-art, thus reducing energy consumption and the release of emissions. OKW also possesses its own paint mixing plant, which produces exactly the quantity of (water-based) paints that is to be used. This dispenses with the need for the disposal of excess production. As one of the leading companies on the international enclosures market, OKW Gehäusesysteme is of course also present at many different trade fairs and other events. Even here, OKW is careful to protect our natural resources, for example the basic structure of the exhibition stand is designed for repeated use, importance is attached to reducing the volume of waste and packing material, and we dispense as far as possible with t he use of composite materials. |

| The ground-breaking ceremony for new logistics centre
08.02.2011 After additional land and buildings had been acquired in the last few years and preparatory demolition work in the company’s grounds had been completed last year, OKW is now beginning with the construction of a new logistics centre. This is a further step in the direction of a comprehensive new restructuring and conversion project for the company grounds of OKW and its buildings, as part of a master plan covering the next few years. According to the principle "Scope for OKW", the shareholders of the Schneider family want to give the enclosure manufacturer and its staff a working environment which goes with OKW, in which the staff feel good, which can be managed in a modern, effective way, which facilitates communication and which will still remain flexible in the future. These are the requirements which the parties involved and the decision-makers are guided by in their planning. The implementation of the entire construction project has been designed in such a way that it can be planned and carried out successively and independently in a logical sequence, without interfering with day-to-day operations. The new hall, which is connected to the road network via the road "Im Krötenteich", will cover approx. 2100 square metres; after completion of the investment of about 1.5 million euro, the building will house the logistics and warehousing departments from mid-2011 onwards - the ground-breaking ceremony took place on 08.02.2011. The next steps in the comprehensive "Turtle" construction project will be the extensive refurbishment of an office building in the Friedrich-List-Strasse as well as the relocation of the office facilities into the new premises. Planning for this, as well as for further construction measures, has already been started. |

| OKW present at international exhibitions
22.12.2010 OKW Gehäusesysteme presented its comprehensive range of design-oriented standard plastic enclosures and tuning knobs at the world's largest exhibition for electronics and electronic components in Munich from 09 until 12.11.2010. In Hall A2, OKW had an outstanding location in the area for case manufacturers with an 84 sq.m. large exhibition stand. In the design of its products, OKW always attaches a lot of importance to outstanding appearance in conjunction with a high utilisation factor for the customer. This makes OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH, with its workforce of almost 90 in Buchen, Germany, one of the leading suppliers worldwide in this sector, and this was repeatedly confirmed by visitors to the stand in numerous discussions with OKW's staff. All in all about 70,000 visitors came to the electronica fair, with foreign visitors accounting for about 47%. The company's products are distributed through an international network of subsidiaries and agencies. In the run-up to the fair (on Monday 08.11.10) OKW organised a conference for representatives in the BMW Museum in Munich, with the slogan "The Face in the Crowd”. In its entire public presence, OKW always stands out from the masses, whether in terms of its products or its brand image. This is what makes OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH different, and is what makes the company successful. The almost 80 representatives from over 40 countries also agreed. Of course, the participants at this major event were also given a wide-ranging presentation of the new products, additions to the range, product optimisation as well as new activities. OKW was also represented at the world’s largest medical technology exhibition with its own 30 sq.m. large stand. Here interested visitors were given an easy-to-understand, informative insight into the wide range of OKW products, specially adapted to applications in the field of medical and laboratory technology, as well as the fields of the health and leisure industry. 12.11.2010 For the exhibitions in this autumn season, OKW Gehäusesysteme is once more presenting numerous product supplements and new products, as well as proposals for new materials. We are sure that there is something interesting for everyone among them: The INTERFACE TERMINAL multifunctional case range was supplemented with high bottom parts for more installation volume as well as a flush wall support for low-profile wall mounted applications. For modern control and management centres, the DIATEC range has been extended by two more sizes - a smaller XS version and, at the upper end, the L version. The MINITEC Edge case series is available with immediate effect in two further case heights for more installation volume and an intermediate ring without eyelets. For carrying the unit on a belt, a belt loop fixing device is available as an accessory. The range has also been extended by a textile collar. A new item in the collection is the robust WALLTEC range of wall mounted cases with freely accessible terminal compartment for easy component mounting and wiring. The cases are suitable for indoors and outdoors, e.g. for use in heating, air conditioning and ventilation technology, measurement and control technology, for machine and industrial controllers. In many applications BIOGRADE C 7500 can replace the fossil plastics used up to now. Optionally, OKW Gehäusesysteme also offers numerous standard cases made of this material. | Case made of bioplastic by OKW Gehäusesysteme - the green company! 16.06.2010 On request, OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH can also offer numerous standard cases in a bioplastic material. Bioplastics are made from renewable raw materials and in many applications can replace the fossil plastics used so far. Unlike fossil raw materials, they are largely CO2-neutral, no matter how they are recycled after use. After they have been used, materials made from plants release only the same amount of CO2 as the plants absorbed from the atmosphere during their growth phase. After comprehensive tests with many different types of biomaterials, we decided in favour of the material BIOGRADE® C 7500 produced by the company FKuR. This is a biodegradable polymer compound made largely from regrowable resources. The initial products are cotton or wood. The purified cellulose is largely esterified (ester = organic compound) to obtain cellulose acetate (CA), which is then slightly modified. BIOGRADE® C 7500 has similar properties to ABS and can be processed using the normal injection moulding method. For indoors applications there are no restrictions to the life cycle. Parts made of BIOGRADE® C 7500 are technically compostable and biodegradable. After the material has been ground using mechanical means, it is broken down naturally by micro-organisms. If it is to be utilised thermally at the end of its useful life, this also guarantees carbon-neutral energy. However, bioplastics have not only ecological advantages. They also help to preserve our fossil raw materials and reduce our dependence on petroleum. With a case made of bioplastic, your company can also show that it is responsible and environmentally aware, for a healthy and worthwhile environment is an asset in which we are all interested. | Sterile plastic surfaces Permanent protection against bacteria, viruses and fungi 09.12.2009 On request, OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH can also offer its standard cases in antimicrobial plastic. Unlike antibacterial media, we use an antimicrobial ASA which acts not only against bacteria but also against other harmful agents. These include viruses (e.g. HIV, influenza), fungi (e.g. Aspergillus Niger) and various algae. The compound used for this consists of a ASA material in off-wite and a sufficient admixture. This ASA contains so-called sterions, in which the active substance is permanently anchored in an inert carrier material and allows the controlled release of high-activity ions. These ions attack the metabolic systems of the microbes so that they can no longer breed, and then die out. The material-specific properties remain practically unchanged. A slight color deviation may occur. This means that the product surface of the new material mixture has a permanent antimicrobial effect. The standard JIS Z 2801 serves as a test for antimicrobial activity and effectiveness. The identified germs and in particular their quantity must be reduced by >2 log10 levels within a defined time frame. Depending on requirements, the concentration of the additives can be increased. Good results can be achieved with an admixture of approx. 2 %, i.e. there is a reduction of germs > 99.9 % realized after 5 - 6 hours. Besides use in the medical sector, the antimicrobial materials and products are also ideal for equipment and cases that are used by different persons or are even held in the hand. This serves as a natural prophylaxis, as protection against bacteria, viruses and fungi, and is good for our most important asset, our health. The iF design award is one of the most important prizes for applied design, and is a noted and recognised seal of quality at national as well as international level. This has now also been evaluated and recognised by an independent, international jury. In Hall B5, OKW had an outstanding location in the area of case manufacturers with a 112 sq. m. large exhibition stand. The main focus of the presentation was the two new case developments INTERFACE TERMINAL, a multifunctional series for mobile, desktop and wall-mounted applications, as well as the UNITEC desktop range. In the design of its products, OKW always attaches particular importance to outstanding appearance in conjunction with a high utilisation factor for the customer. This makes OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH, with its workforce of almost 100 in Buchen, Germany, one of the leading suppliers worldwide in this sector, and this was repeatedly confirmed by visitors to the stand in numerous discussions with OKW's staff. The company's products are distributed through an international network of subsidiaries and agencies. In the run-up to the exhibition, on Monday 10.11.08, a big event once more took place for the representatives of the above-mentioned national and international companies. At this event, almost 80 persons from over 40 countries were given a comprehensive view of the new products, supplements to the range, optimised products as well as new activities, which met with an enthusiastic response on the part of the participants. In general, the electronica exhibition indicated that the mood on the market is excellent, despite the worldwide financial crisis. Although the growth rates are low in central European countries, there is great growth potential at the moment particularly in eastern Europe and Asia. 07.11.2008 The growing demand in the field of data visualisation calls for innovative products. The new cINTERFACE-TERMINAL meets all of the requirements of a modern man-machine interface. Click here for a film (flash file) The new UNITEC range of cases is characterised by two operating panels. These can be used for single or dual operating areas, thus allowing simultaneous applications, for example a doctor face to face with a patient. Further new products: - The new L size of the MINITEC range of cases also presents itself as an elegant and compact unit. Ideal for everyone that needs more installation volume but does not want to dispense with the exquisite design. - The new versions I - V of the case width 12 modules complete the RAILTEC B range of cases. - The RAILTEC C range of cases is now available in 12 modules with a width of 210 mm. - For direct installation in panels or case walls there are battery compartments for 3 x AA and 5 x AA available as accessories. - New are also battery clips with nickel-plated surface, corresponding to EN 60601-1 item 15.4.3. The modified geometry rules out the possibility of a short circuit when inserting the batteries incorrectly. 23.07.2008 With the successful conclusion of the financial year as per 30.06, OKW Gehäusesysteme is continuing its steady growth of the last few years. The record sales figure was increased once more to the current level of 14.3 million euro (+ 3 %). "We should like to thank all of our customers for the confidence they have placed in us, and our staff, who have made this success possible", says Managing Director Christoph Schneider. Future prospects are also favourable. Current planning includes numerous new products for the new financial year, and the further development of pioneering technologies. They can now look forward to the autumn, when the trade fairs open their doors and the OKW innovations have their "first big appearance". | OKW at international meetings
03.12.2007 OKW Gehäusesysteme exhibited its products on its own stand at three trade fairs with different centres of interest. The OKW portfolio of plastic designer-oriented standard cases and tuning knobs is very well integrated in the trade fairs described in the following; after all, it is important that in this sector all types of electronics should also have an attractive and up-to-date "package", with an optimum level of functionality and user-friendliness for the subsequent user. The active OKW presence at such trade fairs was started at ELTEFA, from 26th to 28th September 2007, at the new exhibition centre in Stuttgart. Here, companies presented their innovations in the two sectors of "Electrical Engineering" and "Electronics" to a wide range of specialised visitors. The second trade fair this autumn took place in Düsseldorf at the COMPAMED, from 14-16.11.07. Together with our affiliated company Bauländer Kunststoffwerk GmbH (BKW) from Schlierstadt, Germany, we were able to present our comprehensive product portfolio to a large number of international visitors. "The medical sector is one of the most important innovation and growth locomotives worldwide. There is definitely a demand here for high-quality, design-oriented plastic cases and tuning knobs. This market offers enormous sales potential, for OKW as well as for BKW", stated Christoph Schneider, Managing Director of OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH. This was also substantiated by the visitor data: on the 4 days of the fair, a total of 137,000 specialists from over 100 countries came to Düsseldorf in order to visit the largest medical trade fair in the world, MEDICA, as well as ComPaMED (trade fair for suppliers of the entire medical technology sector). OKW also took the occasion of this fair to present its latest achievement to the specialist world: the MINITEC range of cases convinces its users through mini-dimensions together with an innovative appearance, and is extremely comfortable to carry, e.g. on a lanyard, on a bracelet, with a wrist strap or on a key-ring. OKW hopes once more to win one of the coveted design awards with this range of cases. OKW made its last appearance at a trade fair in the week from 27-29.11 in Nuremberg at the SPS/IPC/Drives fair. With over 43,000 visitors, this industrial event is Europe's meeting point for electrical automation technology, and shows all technical components, right down to finished complete systems. | Record earnings for OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH 10.07.2007 In its annual statement of accounts for the financial year 01.07.2006 to 30.06.2007, the company OKW Gehäusesysteme GmbH from Buchen achieved its best turnover in the 23 years of the company's history. Compared to the previous financial year, sales increased in the past year by 8.3 % to 14 million euro. The outstanding product and innovation policy is certainly a guarantee for the continuing success of this company, which is managed by the owner, Dipl.-Ing. Christoph Schneider. OKW offers only products of the highest quality, with properties to meet the requirements of its customers. This is particularly reflected in the ergonomics, robustness, protection class and recycling capability of the product portfolio. The best examples of this are the two SOFT-CASE and SENSO-CASE ranges of cases as well as the STAR-KNOBS range of tuning knobs, which were presented to the technical world at last year's exhibition highlight "electronica". Two outstanding ranges of cases are already in the pipeline for the new financial year, and will be presented in autumn 2007 and spring 2008. Additional services, the expansion of our worldwide sales network and the continuing further education and training of the 83 employees will also guarantee the long-term success of our medium-sized company. |
